I'm Making a Video Game Extra Post - Colour Schemes

Heyo. Zed here. I have a fun extra update about the video game projects. I’ve hit a technical challenge in this project that I so far haven’t been able to find a way around. All of the character and NPC assets I have are humans. My setting has entire nations composed of other species besides humans. The entire setting of Allegro contains no humans. Allegro is all animal folk of various species. I can only find human assets though.

My solution to this was to find some way of duplicating the character and NPC assets I have and recolouring the duplicates. I’ve looked into this and it seems possible but no one’s done it before. I have spent a year hunting down the right option or menu inside of the Unreal Engine for recolouring an asset. Finally today while loading some files into a test map in the Unreal Engine I found it. Here’s a screenshot of the menu I am using for this.

Here’s the original human character I was working with. This is Frostwalker Kwang, the character I’m using as the player character in Allegro. He looks like an anthro wolf but his skin is actually dark not tan. The main character of Allegro is supposed to have tan skin and fur.

Here’s my recoloured version. I made him purple and recoloured his skin to match the main character’s colour scheme. I picked purple just to see if I could make it work. That’s it. Job done. This was my last research task before I can start planning out the NPCs and their colour schemes. I can also use Frostwalker Kwang in any of his new recolourings as other characters in the game. This gives me unlimited options for character types and colour schemes. That’s it.

Chocolate and Barbecue Sauce and Truffles Oh My

Hello. C J here. I've got two new recipes for everyone today. I meant to type up a third but for the life of me I can't find the paper index card I wrote it down on. I will have to make it again and post it later once I double check I have the right proportions. I know what's in it but the proportions are done by taste. It's for Asian style ginger baked beans as part of my Asian-barbecue book I'm working on. The book might actually end up being cards for the card game because the recipes are so simple they fit in that format. That makes my job easier. Here's our two recipes for today. The first is a new Asian style barbecue sauce I invented from scratch. This isn't based on an existing sauce. It's the product of a lot of planning and research. It's great. The second recipe is for my final draft scratch made dark chocolate. This stuff is good. I still have some of the batch I made three days ago on hand. It's too tasty to eat. There will be a mil...

Let's All Be Friends, No Really - Part Two

Hello. C J here. I’ve updated my plans to make a Discord server for everyone here and on Facebook. Making a Discord server to my knowledge costs money. However, making a Facebook group does not. I’ve made a few of those over the years as well for various reasons. I’m going to look into this soon and then add the links here and in the menus here as well. I’m certain a Facebook group is what we need. I’m planning a number of chats within the group. So far my current plans are as follows. Art and Artwork Health and Wellness Food and Baking Magic and Spirituality Writing and Software NSFW I’m planning a private group but if I can get it open entry without a form or sign up page or anything. As for rules I’m going to reuse some from past of these I’ve done. Everyone is Welcome Be Polite Advertising is Allowed Follow the Content Ratings The Facebook group will take some planning but not any actual effort to build. It’s that simple. Thanks. C J Mcpherson

Four New Recipes for January

Hello. C J here. I've got four new recipes for everyone here. We have everything from Chinese chicken to homemade hot apple cider. Enjoy. The Emperor’s Potatoes Here we have the first food item I ever finished designing for Food of the World – Carthia. I tried three combinations of traditional Asian ingredients and pasta under the assumption that I was doing Italian-Chinese food for the book. I could not for the life of me get any of them to be exciting. They were fine. I don’t eat fine. I got bored of the pasta thing and then thought to myself, ‘what happens if I swap the pasta for another starch? What about a potato?’ It worked. Really well. It worked so well I named them The Emperor’s Potatoes. They’re mashed potatoes and I left the skins on because I like vitamins and then that got me thinking about the traditional medicinal food of Ancient China, ginger. Could I put ginger in a potato dish and have it work? Yes. I can. That surprised me. Be warned, these are almost dangerousl...
