Hello. C J here. I’m still technically on vacation but I wanted all this typed up so I don’t forget it by the end of my off time. I’ve spent this time setting some priorities for what I do when I get back to work. Have a mountain of work ahead of me in terms of card design and graphic design for use on cards. I’m also playing video games and eating sugar but I am spending some of this time figuring out what order to do everything in for Regency.
Regency needs 100 cards that are unique each to represent the gems you pay to cast spells. These are 5 sets of 20 each. It needs at least 600 cards depicting the factions of characters with stats that you can either play as or against. It needs the quest cards done for Ascala as well as the Ascala region, lore and player character cards being finished and having the necessary mechanics and art on them. I’ve chosen to tackle this in the order I’ve listed it here. The gems come first.
There is a reason for this. Regency, like most of what I do, is based on real life magic and spirituality. In this case Regency is literally me taking spells and components of spells from spell books and books of mythology and reprinting them as cards with art on each card. This is my attempt at finding order and coherency in the vast array of spells and spell tools that I know exist. What I’m doing is sorting all of the tools spells use into categories of 20 each for the gems. Spells then are built out of this both in real life and in the game.
Red gems are based on medieval alchemy and the sacred properties of stones and metals. The current list is Iron, Copper, Jade, Glass, Orb, Wire, Vitriol, Sulphur, Aqua Vita, Saltpetre, Hide, Gold. These are called Renown gems. Green gems are kitchen magic and are based around sacred food. The final list is Potato, Carrot, Salt, Flour, Sugar, Chicken, Beef, Pork, Fish, Apples, Berries, Peaches, Milk, Tea, Sugar, Egg, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Pineapple, Rice. I don’t know why cocoa powder, coffee and coconut aren’t on the list but no kitchen alchemy I attempt with them has worked so far. These are called Resources.
The other three categories are still being worked on. Blue gems are called Prima and are all going to be represented as books on various spiritual or scientific subjects. The first ten are sacred numerology with the meanings of the numbers 0-9 and the next ten will be equations or scientific formulae using these numbers. White gems are Wealth and are sacred tools and shapes including the triangle, circle, staff, sword and four pointed star. Black gems are Essence and are colour themed. I want black and the colours of the seven chakras with their meanings. They will be represented as coloured orbs of energy.
This is what I have so far and is my highest priority to work on when I get back to work. Every spell I’ve ever read or worked with has some combination of these things as its ingredients. This is what I know. These lists will be added to as think of new things in each category and try out new books and ideas. I want 20 of each and I hope the lists work out to that number because that’s the one I can publish on cards. These will also be the crafting ingredients in the video game line.

Hello. C J here. I've got four new recipes for everyone here. We have everything from Chinese chicken to homemade hot apple cider. Enjoy. The Emperor’s Potatoes Here we have the first food item I ever finished designing for Food of the World – Carthia. I tried three combinations of traditional Asian ingredients and pasta under the assumption that I was doing Italian-Chinese food for the book. I could not for the life of me get any of them to be exciting. They were fine. I don’t eat fine. I got bored of the pasta thing and then thought to myself, ‘what happens if I swap the pasta for another starch? What about a potato?’ It worked. Really well. It worked so well I named them The Emperor’s Potatoes. They’re mashed potatoes and I left the skins on because I like vitamins and then that got me thinking about the traditional medicinal food of Ancient China, ginger. Could I put ginger in a potato dish and have it work? Yes. I can. That surprised me. Be warned, these are almost dangerousl...
