Hello. C J here. I’ve updated the Quantum page here on the website. The card game is going to take a long time. I’ve scheduled a year of very slow work on it before I’m expecting it to be done. Quantum will be the core game line I keep adding to but it needs to be done first before I can do that. It is being made slowly so I don’t burn out. This leaves me with a lot of free time. I need more side projects or I’m going to get bored. Bored in my opinion is worse than burnt out. I have been meaning to make an animation, like a full length movie, set in Ascala for a while. Maybe Ascala needs that animation this year.
I can hand draw all the characters and backgrounds. This will rely on the same archive of assets and hand drawn props I need for the card game. The problem is the plot. I don’t have it in me as an author to work on another story this year besides the card game. The card game requires that much work. Then I realized something. I could just commission people to help plan and write it. I have a budget for this year that I haven’t spent yet. I’m going to go hunt down some skilled authors or script writers on BARQ or SoFurry and pay them some nice cash for their ideas.
I’ve named our new movie project Ascalan Summer. It’s set in the height of Summer in Ascala and I already have all 20 main characters I need for it planned out and on cards. Find the text samples of those cards in the Downloads page. Ascalan Summer will be my take on the Studio Gibli genre of fantasy. I don’t want a conflict or really even a plot. I want to depict what some of my Ascala characters do in Summer. I’m going to look into this. This will take a while but it should be fun to work on.

Hello. C J here. Walking down the streets of Haven is not always as safe as the city would like people to think. Yes, they have curbed the banditry that plagues the Southern half of the Coastal Road. The Desert Princes whose cities dot the Southern coast of the Southern Continent if anything make the problem worse for themselves with their constant rivalries and politics. So no, a traveller in Haven or in the River Lands is unlikely to meet a bandit or other criminal sort. But then there’s the walking dead to consider. Many of the basements, catacombs and landmarks of Haven have old foundations from before the city had its current name. In ages long past it was one of two competing capitols for the Desert Empire, both of which unified under the first Sand King of the Gold Dynasty, the God-Lion. It was never his place of residence and both the other capitol and the rest of the Desert Empire are long since buried under the dunes. Well, people like to assume they’re buried. People wo...
