Product Plans for May 2025

Hello. C J here. I took a bit of a break from posting after finishing Legend – Uprising. Now with the core rules of Legend – Uprising done I have all the core rules I need for everything I want to make. The Legend Series now has five core rule sets and they’re all compatible with each other. I had three of these planned but I had so many goals that I had to split the last one into three parts. Here are some product updates for the month of May.

My main three projects are as follows. First, the Eternity setting is being built actively for use with both Quantum and Uprising. Quantum will have the characters, spells and broad history of the nations while Uprising will have more storytelling components and street by street maps of all the cities and wilderness regions. All of this will have art done by me. Eternity is first and after I get this block of work done I’m doing Ascala. Sometime in Summer I’m going to make the core history and location cards for Carthia. Carthia and Ascala are in the same broad region of the Legend Setting as each other.

I will be continuing to make the Iron Kingdoms Mk. II playlist of videos to help explain the setting here. All of my videos will be on YouTube under the C J Mcpherson channel. Second, I’m working on making more recipes for the Food of the World project. This project has kind of taken over the Lands of Creation project and Lands of Creation will mostly be food cards for the card games. Food of the World will also be a series of videos featuring fully animated instructions to make the food from my setting.

Third, I’m working on producing the video series All Myths Are True. All Myths Are True is my company’s effort to make educational content more approachable. These videos will be in a range of subjects from biochemistry to the philosophy of free will, all melding science and magic into one seamless whole. These will be set in the Astral setting at the Order of Mages and will strongly feature recurring characters and a plot as well as educational content. My goal is to make university grade content free and also as inclusive as it can be.

The Astral is the main region of the setting that I write about and the Order of Mages is one of the most interesting parts of that setting. It’s the Astral’s main school of magic and trains its students in magic theory but more importantly in ethics. The Astral’s other nations rely on it to train and test magic users before they are allowed to have the title wizard. I’m going to be plain here. I am not happy with how post-secondary education is run on this planet here, Earth.

Post-secondary offers amazing promises of education and employment to its students. Then it forces you to learn on your own from textbooks while paying professors to think they’re really important. It’s all politics. In my way of speaking, politics means lying. Leadership and states craft are words for a leader who is honest. Politics are my word for when one isn’t. I’ve been ripped off by enough education systems who promised a job and then threw me out the second I graduated that I want something better. And I am not mentioning the institutionalized inequality these places represent.

I’m making a free online university. It’s led by my third main character, Wanderer. Wanderer took over the reigns of the school from it’s founder, the mysterious mage known as Gregor Uathin. This is not his actual name, which no one knows. Wanderer is an all white lupine from the Winter themed nation Boreala and he runs a tight ship but also an honest one. Wanderer is the only fate mage to ever live and knows everything happening on the continent at all times. He’s also a capable sword fighter and orator. He is not the only main character I have planned but he does teach their Divination courses.

The lessons will be in the form of a TV show in 20 minute chunks. We follow the lives of several young mages who are there to learn and who are encouraged to take only the lessons they want to take that week or that month. At the Order tests aren’t associated with lessons. Taking a test means you quality for the Order to employ you doing the job that exam goes with. Almost every exam is about ethics. Jobs like concert performer, event planner and enchantment craftsmen are hired out by the school and are where it gets its vast wealth from. All mages are given free tuition, room and board and study materials. The system works and anyone who wants to change it isn’t going to survive long. Wolves have very sharp claws.

I have no patience for dishonesty as a person, or for people being denied knowledge while paying for it. It’s time for something better. Here is a quote from our Mental Magic and Hypnosis professor, Saren Matthews. Yes, he is from the same House as my main character Zed Matthews. Saren Matthews and Zed Matthews are distant relatives and both dress in mostly black, unlike the school uniforms in white and blue. Here’s that quote from his lecture Introduction to Free Will.

Wizard Matthews: They say in logic and theory that the whole of the world is cause and effect. That we are bound by the notions and thoughts of our forefathers. I ask you then, can you predict for me the path of a hurricane that you ware walking into? No. I tell you not, or some fortunate soul would have invented it for us and made a great sum from it. No, free will is the only law that governs or binds us together. Forget not this in your time here, for it is under your own power that you navigate these waters here of knowledge. Waters dark and deep indeed.

What folly then, to think that currency, mathematics and freedom of speech are organic things that we find in the world that we were made to invent without forethought. What then of art? Art, so say the foolish, is irrelevant. I do not train the foolish. And, tell me thus some more, can a hurricane make a sculpture for you? Can it think and reason and feel it’s way into a painting? No, least of all if it we do not know where it will land in order to paint. Lecture over. Leave now. Questions are not welcome.

My other main character is Abeck Xauxing, an independent merchant captain who also teaches Business and Economics. Find these videos on YouTube under my C J Mcpherson channel.

Four New Recipes for January

Hello. C J here. I've got four new recipes for everyone here. We have everything from Chinese chicken to homemade hot apple cider. Enjoy. The Emperor’s Potatoes Here we have the first food item I ever finished designing for Food of the World – Carthia. I tried three combinations of traditional Asian ingredients and pasta under the assumption that I was doing Italian-Chinese food for the book. I could not for the life of me get any of them to be exciting. They were fine. I don’t eat fine. I got bored of the pasta thing and then thought to myself, ‘what happens if I swap the pasta for another starch? What about a potato?’ It worked. Really well. It worked so well I named them The Emperor’s Potatoes. They’re mashed potatoes and I left the skins on because I like vitamins and then that got me thinking about the traditional medicinal food of Ancient China, ginger. Could I put ginger in a potato dish and have it work? Yes. I can. That surprised me. Be warned, these are almost dangerousl...

Recipe - Lemon-Lime Soda

Hello. C J here. I have here a recipe for homemade lemon-lime soda. This beverage is just as sweet as the original brand it’s based on but has actual lemon juice and lime juice in it. It tastes similar but not as acidic. Strangely this recipe worked the first time I made it. It’s mostly glucose syrup, which any chemist with my knowledge of food could make in a home kitchen. The recipe makes four cups, each one to be served over ice. One cup is mostly enough for one person. Ingredients One Cup Sugar One Half Cup Water One Tablespoon Lemon Juice Three Tablespoons Lime Juice Two and a Half Cups Soda Water For the Glucose Syrup Mix the sugar and the water in a medium saucepan. Put over medium heat and stir frequently until the sugar is dissolved and the liquid is clear. It should still be thicker than water. For the Soda Measure out two and a half cups of soda water. Pour into this the glucose syrup in a heat proof one quart measuring cup or other heat proof vessel. Add the lemon juic...

Chocolate and Barbecue Sauce and Truffles Oh My

Hello. C J here. I've got two new recipes for everyone today. I meant to type up a third but for the life of me I can't find the paper index card I wrote it down on. I will have to make it again and post it later once I double check I have the right proportions. I know what's in it but the proportions are done by taste. It's for Asian style ginger baked beans as part of my Asian-barbecue book I'm working on. The book might actually end up being cards for the card game because the recipes are so simple they fit in that format. That makes my job easier. Here's our two recipes for today. The first is a new Asian style barbecue sauce I invented from scratch. This isn't based on an existing sauce. It's the product of a lot of planning and research. It's great. The second recipe is for my final draft scratch made dark chocolate. This stuff is good. I still have some of the batch I made three days ago on hand. It's too tasty to eat. There will be a mil...
