Hello. C J here. I’ve reorganized how I post here recently now that I have all of the core rules done for the Legend Series of games. I am trying to be a lot less hypothetical and only mention things that are done or that have the part I’m mentioning done. I am trying to stay away from pitching products that I don’t have yet. Still, I know what I can do and today’s post is well within the boundaries of what I know I can pull off.
The Legend Series contains five core games and I’m not adding to this list. I’m working now on expanding the list of books I offer within these game lines as well as making the cards for both card games. Again, I’m sticking to the generic Astral content in the Quantum Starter Set and the Ascala modern day themed content from the Quantum Expansion about Ascala, Five Million Strong. Both of these are in the Astral setting region. At least that will be true until I finish one of them and move onto the next setting region in line.
I think that the two card games will contain everything I want to express about the modern day themed continent and city Ascala. The continent and city are both named Ascala and the people who live there use the two interchangeably. This leaves open the question of books. I’d like something to bring to a convention to sell in that format besides the core rule books. Something I can make more of and print and hand bind in bulk. I have been thinking for a long while about making generic fantasy themed faction books for my miniatures game Dominion.
I don’t have a name for this product line yet but it will be a Legend product. Each book will have a unique name and detail one faction Class with fountain pen art, text biographical data and stats. I am aiming to make each one about 45 pages and sell them for $35 each. This way I can cut down on printing times with my home printing setup while also making a large number of physical, hand bound books. The first one in line is a generic modern day themed fantasy army with magic called Modernist.
I was thinking though, just doing combat stats for Modernist leaves a lot of space for discussing these characters’ personal lives. So, I’m also finally adding a new book to the Heart and Fur line. Heart and Fur Modern will be the ultimate guide to playing the slice of life game that Heart and Fur is within a modern fantasy setting. I want a mix of urban aesthetics but also some of the fantasy genre’s deeper and older roots. Here is my list so far of things to include.
Modern profession packages to make character design easier.
Character modifications for playing living vehicles.
Modern alchemy and alchemy effects.
A magic system themed on urban concepts and materials like electricity, concrete, steel, rust and glass.
A hacking based magic engine that can hack people as well.
Modern clothing as combat or social tools.
No new races, the default ones should be focused on more.
The rules here about what I can and cannot do, and what I can and cannot include, are a lot looser than the Legend Series. The Legend Series has to contain real life parallels and knowledge. Heart and Fur doesn’t except for the emphasis it places on characters being themselves. If it’s attractive, if it’s handsome, if it’s capable of going on a date with another character, then it belongs in Heart and Fur. I am doing the front cover art for Heart and Fur Modern myself in soft pastel. I don’t have it done yet, but here’s my art setup. More soon.
