Hello. C J here. So, I’m an author. I write books in addition to games. My original goal of the Legend Setting was to have a setting for all of my novel and book ideas that needed a physical location and a list of characters. The whole thing kind of built more of itself than I expected and now I own one of the largest tabletop game settings in existence and certainly the most inclusive one.
This all requires inspiration. Now most people sit back and wait for inspiration to come to them. This is all fine and whatever but really, there’s a better way. Anyone I meet who has a lack of inspiration or story ideas needs to get reading. How do I get ideas for stories or game narratives? I read books. Lots of books. Really I don’t care what the book is I care that it’s long and in text format.
Authors steal. We steal everything we do. This is a well known fact of the profession. And we are good at it. Take an existing character, change their outfit by one colour and rename them and no one can tell where you got them from. Currently I’m reading a few PDF game manuals from board games I’m thinking about getting with my family, I’m rereading some of my old reference tabletop roleplaying games that I used to inspire the setting in the first place and now that I’m done the long numbers intense set up process I can finally read novels for fun again.
I’m part way through a novel called Beneath the Shattered Veil that I found on the free ebook side obooko. It’s got two furry themed protagonists and you know what, it’s better written than most high price print fantasy novels. I’m going to go back to obooko when I’m done it to see what I can find there next. Wattpad has a ton of furry and fantasy novels as well and they’re all free. Be picky but remember that a free ebook was probably written for enjoyment and not money. We authors want people to like our work so be sure to let an author know if you enjoyed a book.

Hello. C J here. Walking down the streets of Haven is not always as safe as the city would like people to think. Yes, they have curbed the banditry that plagues the Southern half of the Coastal Road. The Desert Princes whose cities dot the Southern coast of the Southern Continent if anything make the problem worse for themselves with their constant rivalries and politics. So no, a traveller in Haven or in the River Lands is unlikely to meet a bandit or other criminal sort. But then there’s the walking dead to consider. Many of the basements, catacombs and landmarks of Haven have old foundations from before the city had its current name. In ages long past it was one of two competing capitols for the Desert Empire, both of which unified under the first Sand King of the Gold Dynasty, the God-Lion. It was never his place of residence and both the other capitol and the rest of the Desert Empire are long since buried under the dunes. Well, people like to assume they’re buried. People wo...
