Hello. C J here. I’ve got some fun Dragon Engine updates for everyone today. I think I’ve got the base layer of the terrain tiles figured out. Now I need trees. I spent yesterday looking at the free low-poly trees that come with GDevelop. They’re nice, but on closer inspection they will not match the photo realistic look I’m going for to make Dragon Engine an animation platform. I will have to 3D model my own trees in Sculpt+. This is going to be fun. I’ll also need rocks, grass, small plants and flowers.
Then once I have all of these, and that may take a while, I combine them with the base layer tiles and add collision in patterns that make the trees climbing compatible and make sure you don’t fall through the ground. I’ve got the textures I need for tree trunks in various colours already done and leaves already done as well. Then these final tiles with trees, plants and rocks together will be the ones you can place over a bedrock tile in the final game. Buildings follow a similar logic, with the furniture for a room part of the floor for that room. Here’s some samples including my leaves texture.
