Time for Graphic Novels

Hello. C J here. I don’t know if this is just me but I like a good graphic novel. It’s hard to find a good graphic novel. Like, I’ve never found one that I didn’t feel ran out of steam part way through its long and really strange release schedule. There’s a ton of free online ones in a variety of fantasy and furry fandom genres. I have tried for ages to find one I like that can maintain its pace and also style through the many stages required to finish making a story.

Really, I can’t think of one I’ve finished. There’s one exception. Ages ago I wrote a twelve page graphic novel and paid someone in the furry fandom to draw it. I’ll eventually post it here for download. I like that graphic novel a lot. It worked. It sold well and now I’m relying on Patreon more so I’ll make it free to advertise the Patreon. It’s called Snow Day. It was great but I already know the ending so it’s not really as exciting as read or buying one.

I have most of my company’s budget for the year left over. If I hired a script writer and an artist or two I could have more graphic novels made. Bluesky would love that for marketing. It would be in my setting with my setting’s rules, like being nice to the characters and depicting magic in ways that make sense, but other than that I could provide pretty much complete creative control over the story to a team of writers and artists. I was going to spend the budget, which I really don’t want to roll over to next year, on animations.

This poses some problems. Dragon Engine needs to be out for this to work. Dragon Engine may be years away. I also might need to train a large but specialized team to work with its animation tools. That could take ages. Anyway, I want more comics to read with my characters and setting, especially the magic system. Action, romance, everyday life, I’m not picky. This is possible this year. I can probably recruit easily on Bluesky. Normally at this point I say more soon. I can’t guarantee that so instead I’ll say I’m looking into it.

Edit: I forgot to mention that I pay through the nose for these things. My rates last time were $50 for 2700-3000 words of game text and at least $100 for one page of graphic novel. I’m willing to negotiate these, upwards only. I also am allowed to tip. These were in USD normally through PayPal. Fun, right?

Let's All Be Friends, No Really - Part Two

Hello. C J here. I’ve updated my plans to make a Discord server for everyone here and on Facebook. Making a Discord server to my knowledge costs money. However, making a Facebook group does not. I’ve made a few of those over the years as well for various reasons. I’m going to look into this soon and then add the links here and in the menus here as well. I’m certain a Facebook group is what we need. I’m planning a number of chats within the group. So far my current plans are as follows. Art and Artwork Health and Wellness Food and Baking Magic and Spirituality Writing and Software NSFW I’m planning a private group but if I can get it open entry without a form or sign up page or anything. As for rules I’m going to reuse some from past of these I’ve done. Everyone is Welcome Be Polite Advertising is Allowed Follow the Content Ratings The Facebook group will take some planning but not any actual effort to build. It’s that simple. Thanks. C J Mcpherson

Chocolate and Barbecue Sauce and Truffles Oh My

Hello. C J here. I've got two new recipes for everyone today. I meant to type up a third but for the life of me I can't find the paper index card I wrote it down on. I will have to make it again and post it later once I double check I have the right proportions. I know what's in it but the proportions are done by taste. It's for Asian style ginger baked beans as part of my Asian-barbecue book I'm working on. The book might actually end up being cards for the card game because the recipes are so simple they fit in that format. That makes my job easier. Here's our two recipes for today. The first is a new Asian style barbecue sauce I invented from scratch. This isn't based on an existing sauce. It's the product of a lot of planning and research. It's great. The second recipe is for my final draft scratch made dark chocolate. This stuff is good. I still have some of the batch I made three days ago on hand. It's too tasty to eat. There will be a mil...

Four New Recipes for January

Hello. C J here. I've got four new recipes for everyone here. We have everything from Chinese chicken to homemade hot apple cider. Enjoy. The Emperor’s Potatoes Here we have the first food item I ever finished designing for Food of the World – Carthia. I tried three combinations of traditional Asian ingredients and pasta under the assumption that I was doing Italian-Chinese food for the book. I could not for the life of me get any of them to be exciting. They were fine. I don’t eat fine. I got bored of the pasta thing and then thought to myself, ‘what happens if I swap the pasta for another starch? What about a potato?’ It worked. Really well. It worked so well I named them The Emperor’s Potatoes. They’re mashed potatoes and I left the skins on because I like vitamins and then that got me thinking about the traditional medicinal food of Ancient China, ginger. Could I put ginger in a potato dish and have it work? Yes. I can. That surprised me. Be warned, these are almost dangerousl...
