Hello. C J here. I do own and run Infinity Game Studios. It’s a sole proprietorship. To my knowledge this business type is rare because it means one person runs and does the whole thing. This was on purpose. The company is mine and it does what I want it to do. Normally a company has a financial report one a quarter or at the end of the year. Do not ever expect one of these from me.
Infinity Game Studios is run off my personal checking account and a PayPal for currency conversions. I don’t link them because they can draw on each other normally through transactions. My entire job is always in one of two modes. First, research. I buy things or download ebooks and read or learn. Second, product design. I take what I know and package it in each game line separately. The research takes a budget while product design actually does not.
I do all the work to make Dragon Engine, Quantum and Monad myself on software I have the correct training to use. Check out my About page for the complete list of software. I use only open source software or Android apps from the Play Store. Most of the setup for the company was learning the list of software skills I needed to make the video games and card game. All of this software was cheap and was bought outright with money I had. My video content is done the same way.
I do have a budget for this year. I calculate the budget for a year’s research materials each New Year’s Eve. I haven’t spent all of this year’s yet and next year will be a larger budget. It will roll over with the extra. I do not have debt. Also being able to cook saves tons of money. Research is where I spend my revenue once it comes in. I cannot depict a concept or real life activity in a game unless I know everything there is to know about it. Currently I’m working on these research projects.
Polymer Clay
This brightly coloured clay hardens when baked in the oven. The two brands of it we have in Canada are FIMO and Sculpy. I’m working on a book or card product about making your own fantasy board game miniatures out of it and then doing the fine details in acrylic paint.
Herbal Soap
I have always wanted to get into soap making and I finally looked up how a couple months ago. It’s a lot of cooking oil, lye and water plus scents and colours. It looks fun and I want a card product about it to sell. This means I need to work with my family to get the moulds and supplies.
These projects can be sped up with extra revenue and I can keep doing more of them even when I have a product done about each one. Notice, I don’t have tens of thousands of dollars worth of free pens, bookmarks and branded shopping bags to give away. I don’t even have business cards yet. These things are what a business person is supposed to spend money on first. These business people then typically never actually produce or sell a product and consider one sale over the course of the lifetime of their company to be a ‘big win.’
I don’t hang out with these people. I’ve met a lot of them. I don’t give names. I make products and then I or the internet sell them. I take the money and reinvest it in my own lifestyle. I like what I do. I know that point is often surprising to people. That’s fine although I have no idea how a person can live hating their job. My company is founded on the singular principal that if something makes my life better it will do that to everyone and I should sell it.
I don’t have a job. I have a very lucrative hobby.
C J Mcpherson
Hello. C J here. I’ve updated my plans to make a Discord server for everyone here and on Facebook. Making a Discord server to my knowledge costs money. However, making a Facebook group does not. I’ve made a few of those over the years as well for various reasons. I’m going to look into this soon and then add the links here and in the menus here as well. I’m certain a Facebook group is what we need. I’m planning a number of chats within the group. So far my current plans are as follows. Art and Artwork Health and Wellness Food and Baking Magic and Spirituality Writing and Software NSFW I’m planning a private group but if I can get it open entry without a form or sign up page or anything. As for rules I’m going to reuse some from past of these I’ve done. Everyone is Welcome Be Polite Advertising is Allowed Follow the Content Ratings The Facebook group will take some planning but not any actual effort to build. It’s that simple. Thanks. C J Mcpherson
